Traffic Stop in Garyville Leads to Seizure of Meth and Drug Paraphernalia; Nets 3 Arrests

A traffic stop in St. John the Baptist Parish resulted in the arrest of three individuals following a drug bust. The arrest was made on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Deputies from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested three individuals during a traffic stop in Garyville: 47-year-old Jerry Beeland, 56-year-old Randal Freeman, and 53-year-old William Preston.

St. John Parish deputies reported the recovery of 87 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia during the stop.

Investigators discovered that the three individuals stopped in the traffic incident were engaged in a criminal plot to distribute methamphetamine in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Beeland is facing legal issues related to prohibited acts, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, and felony possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Freeman is charged with three counts of contempt of court (felony) and felony possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Preston is charged with felony possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
