Aldi is making strides in Florida by opening new stores. The discount grocer is in the process of transforming multiple Winn-Dixie supermarkets.
Aldi, with its 222 locations, is expanding through the purchase of Winn-Dixie. The agreement was officially completed in March.
Currently, four locations in South Florida are set for transformation, as confirmed by both Aldi and Winn-Dixie.
▪ Aventura Winn-Dixie at 20417 Biscayne Blvd.
▪ Fort Lauderdale Winn-Dixie at 941 SW 24th St.
▪ Boynton Beach Winn-Dixie at 8855 Boynton Beach Blvd.
▪ Westlake Winn-Dixie at 5060 Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd. in Palm Beach County.
Opening Date for New Aldi Locations
The Winn-Dixie in Boynton Beach has shut its doors to start the transformation process. The remaining three locations — in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, and Westlake — are expected to shut down in mid-January to transition into Aldi stores.
Aldi has announced that each store will gradually reopen to the community over the coming months, as stated in a communication to the Miami Herald. The U.S. Aldi company, located in Illinois, has yet to announce the opening dates for the renovated stores.
In August, Aldi announced the first phase of transforming Winn-Dixie locations in Florida, specifically in Panama City, Deltona, Pensacola, and Lakeland.
“While these stores are temporarily closed, we continue to proudly serve residents across Florida at our other area stores,” Aldi said. “We thank our customers for their years of loyalty and look forward to seeing them soon as a new Aldi.”
In the meantime, Aldi is also expanding with the launch of newly constructed locations. A new Aldi has opened its doors in the Sawyer’s Walk development located in Miami’s Overtown this November.
