The New Orleans Pelicans had only a six percent chance of getting the number one pick and they got it! Then at number two went the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks and then the Los Angeles Lakers. It was absolutely shocking, and it was due to the new lottery system put in place for this years’ draft. Tevon Tan (11) stated his reaction to the Pelicans getting the pick “I couldn’t believe it. I thought the Knicks were getting it for sure.”

Right after the crazy lottery the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors kicked off game one of their best of seven series in the Western Conference Finals. The game was a blowout as the Warriors won 116-94. Jefrie Lucio (11), a Warriors fan, stated “I expect us to win the title.” With both teams being short-handed, the Warriors had DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant out and the Trail Blazers had Jusuf Nurkic out, Portland needed a game seven to get past the number two see Nuggets and they got that win mostly from CJ McCollum as he had 37 points on 17-for-29 shots. The Warriors on the other hand, beat the Rockets in six games thanks to Klay Thompson scoring 21 points in the first half. The next game of that series will occur on Thursday at nine ET.

The other series going on is the Eastern Conference Finals with the Toronto Raptors versing the Milwaukee Bucks. The first game of the series kicks off May 15 at 8:30 ET. This series will feature a clash of the titans as seven foot, likely MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo will go up against Finals MVP, and active leader in PPG in the postseason with 31.8 PPG, Kawhi Leonard. The Raptors finished off the 76ers in the second round in seven games with Leonard hitting one of the greatest shots of all time-a fall away shot in the corner that bounced on the rim four times before falling in. The Bucks on the other hand, had no problem finishing off the Celtics, beating them in five winning four in a row. Micaiah Butts (11) thinks the Bucks will win the series stating “I think Giannis will dominate.” Giannis starting off this the second round series versus the Celtics slow with in the first game he only scored 22 points on 7-of-21 shooting from the field.
