Mailing of Contraceptives Banned

April 28, 2023
A 150-year-old law banned the mailing of contraceptives, drugs, lewd materials and other things like pills that could induce an abortions might be providing access to ban abortions all around the country, even in states where abortions are completely legal.
Last year the Supreme Court overturned Roe. V. Wade which was constitutional protection for abortions across the country but the Supreme Court overturned it. This means that many states with triggers ban immediately banned abortions across their state. Some states even put in a law that would fine or even give child time to a person that has given or received an abortion. With no exception of rape, incest or even if the women could die. In result this has led to some that have the resources of going out of state for an abortion but also getting a pill that induces an abortion
The Comstock Act bans drugs like birth control and lewd materials such as drugs, from being shipped through the mail. Many anti-abortion conservatives are trying to make this act come in full effect. By using this 150 year old act this could lead to limiting medical supplies for a surgical abortion or banning the pills that could stop pregnancies. This would not only affect people in states that have now banned abortions but would also affect states where abortions are legal.
