On June 15th at E3 this year, Microsoft announced an amazing new feature for their console. They announced backwards compatibility, a feature that allows you to play games from the previous generation, Xbox 360, on their current console, Xbox One. This is their attempt on getting a big lead in the console war against rival company Sony with their current console, the PS4.

Many say that the Playstation is winning the console wars, but the with announcement of backwards compatibility Xbox has won a huge battle.

Jeremy Payne (11) says “Playstation Four has superior graphics, but Sony is really going to need a game changer to put Xbox back after this.”

When asked. “Do you think Sony is going to copy Xbox, or will they come up with a way to beat backwards compatibility.” Alexander Edwards (12) said. “Oh, there’s no doubt Sony will copy Xbox on this. Do you realize how big this is. Originally Xbox said that this was impossible, now suddenly out of the blue its here.”

Xbox has a lot of games that are fun and unique to play. Many of them are now classics, such as Halo, Alan Wake, and The Gears of War franchise. Now those who loved to play those games on the Xbox 360 no longer have to wait for the Xbox One version that may never come.

Jacob Sandnas (11) said, “I am a gamer myself, and I have quite a few games that I am excited for. I am really excited to see Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Borderlands 2: the Handsome edition, and even Terraria.” As you can see, the Xbox One’s new feature coming later this year is bringing excitement to many gamers all around.
