Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually on February 14th. Originating as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus. Valentine’s Day is recognized as a significant commercial celebration of romance and even friendships around the world. In elementary school we have the memories of buying small candies for your classmates and celebrating together, doing fun Valentine’s Day-related activities. It’s a special day dedicated to the love of friends, family, and significant others.

Everyone has different ways of celebrating this national holiday. Some people make relaxed plans and others plan on going to get-togethers and celebrate with larger groups of kids. “I plan on having a small get together with my friends and family,” said Grace Withrow (10). Seeing the balloons and bags being carried around the halls really puts you into the Valentine’s Day spirit. “I’m giving my girlfriend a diamond necklace from Kay, and then I’m taking her out to get Teppanyaki,” stated Tobin Moeller (12). It’s heartwarming to see your significant other go above and beyond to make this day special for you. Then there are the ones who spend Valentine’s Day on self-care, they take a day to relax and have the day to themselves. “I don’t really plan on doing anything. I’m just going to watch Netflix and eat candy,” said Joelie Joot (10). All that matters is that you are enjoying Valentine’s Day the way you want.

We hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day Huskies!!
