Popular Korean Netflix show “Squid Game” reached #1 in the U.S. for Netflix
October 18, 2021
“Squid Game” has been gaining popularity since it came out on Sept. 17, 2021, and reached the #1 spot just four days later. This entertaining show takes place in Korea, where 456 civilians were asked to play a game, and then got in a van, and woke up in an unfamiliar place. All the players wear green track suits with their numbers on them and compete in brutal games in order to win money. The games are all children’s games, but with one twist, if you mess up, you are eliminated, in other words, killed. The players were not aware of this until the first game, “Red Light Green Light ”, and feared for their lives for the rest of their remaining time. This show has viewers on the edge of their seats the whole time, praying that their favorite character wins the round.
It is obvious that word has spread quickly about this frightening show, and there are people on TikTok making a candy featured in one of the games and making memes about how they would die in “Red Light Green Light” if their favorite song came on. I think this show deserves its place in #1 and was greatly directed.
