Trans Actor Makes History on Broadway

   Actor Angelica Ross appears at creative arts Emmy awards in Los Angeles, on Sept. 11 2021. Ross has become the first openly transgender actor to play a lead role on broadway. Her debut of the musical “Chicago” she will lay the murderous vixen Roxie Hart this fall.

“I think about the trans women who are looking at me right now and are now thinking that this is possible,” Ross tells The Associated Press. “I am really excited to embrace the audience as they embrace me.” Ross is making history for herself and the LGBTQ community. Ross’ journey to the Ambassador Theater was a dream she hoped for all her life. “I’ve been in musical theater since probably first grade” she says. Her earliest roles go back to “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” playing Tyrone in “Fame” and Bully in “Anything Goes.” As a young man who loved musical theater in Racine, Wisconsin Ross was fascinated with it.
