There are many definitions of a career. For instance, “a profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as a permanent calling,” (Merriam Webster.) The Webster dictionary says a career is “undertaken as a permanent calling,” yet the certitude of that phrase is inconsistent. Jobs change; they are not untarnished, ever-changing, something that you may or may not revise. However, say you don’t have an idea of where to start for a career. As you figured from the title, Hamilton has a career club!
Mrs. Johnson, a sponsor of the club, shed some light on this club. Believe it or not, it is a newer club that only started last year. This means it is perfect for trying to find new friends since it’s new, and might not have too many members. So, what precisely is this club all about? An insight from Mrs. Johnson, “We really just provide information about different careers that are out there and different career paths… we have a guest speaker who comes to each meeting[who are] from different career fields. They’ll talk a little bit about what they do each day, and how they got to be where they are, then questions are asked.”
Career club is an easy club to participate in. Just go to the meetings, ask the speaker questions, and you’re done. At the same time, you open up the possibility of learning a new job you might not have been interested in. Definitely check this club out!
