Speech and Debate Team Brings Their A-game in Virtual Tournament

On Saturday Oct. 24, Speech and Debate had their first virtual and local tournament. As a unit our Hamilton Speech and Debate team got fifth place out of 40 competitors. The tournament took place in a virtual meeting to keep Covid-19 safety precautions intact. The speech and debate tournaments go on for a time period of two days and the awards are announced at 6 p.m. on the second day of the tournament. Afreen Shah placed first in the Policy Debate while Arjun Singh and Raj Chopra placed third in the Public Forum Debate. In Dramatic Interpretation, Naveenth Unnikrishnan placed fourth, and Anusha Rahman placed first.

In Duo Interpretation, Karan Bhullar and Shreya Tripathi got second place. The Sspeech and Ddebate team was also honored with the Jim Fountain Award for drama from winning the most sweepstake points in Dramatic and Duo Interpretation out of all of the other competitors.
