Field Trip to GCU!

Field Trip to GCU!

Divya Potta

Marketing/DECA students had their first field trip of the 2021-2022 school year to Grand Canyon University on Sept. 17, 2021 to educate themselves of the business and market industry.

Marketing One and Two are both Career and Technical education (CTE) courses that prepare students for entering the business workforce. This field trip to GCU this past Friday on Sept. 17, 2021 was primarily arranged to give students a tour of the school campus and give them insight into the course options as well as the school community as a whole. The students describe their college experience at GCU and the public relations between students and teachers. Specifically, we discussed the benefits of attending this university in terms of cost and efficiency. For example, they state that with a sufficient grading point average (GPA) students can get many scholarships to allow them to pay for tuition easily. Additionally, it is shown that many students complete their education within three years at GCU.

Moving forward, the main focus of this visit was to expose students to the active business workforce. For instance, we were exposed to many previous graduates who have become successful entrepreneurs. Luckily, students were able to learn more about how the business world works and how simple ideas can turn into great projects and industries. In particular, we were introduced to companies made by GCU students such as Lux Longboards which provided easy transportation to classes as well as video production companies that have helped with the promotion of their products. Overall, the GCU field trip opened up the eyes of high school students and allowed them to look into the college and its opportunities.
