Last week Mrs. Hackett’s photography class took an exciting field trip to downtown Chandler, giving her students a wonderful opportunity for free expression in each of their individual photos. The purpose of this field trip was to take pictures of difference forms of scenery students saw and incorporate them with the techniques they have learned so far this semester. From what the photography students said, it seems as though the field trip was enjoyable and allowed them to experiment with several types of photos. One student, Arianna Rodriguez (10), said that “We got to take pictures of anything we thought looked cool. The best part about it was the freedom we had.” Each student seemed to like that they were able to dedicate a school day for their pictures. Many students even claimed they would go back to the same area to take pictures in their own free time!

Another student, Ben Sagredo (10), talked about how photography has influenced the way he takes pictures and how it was truly proven on this field trip. He stated that “the class really helps by going into all the mechanics of the camera and have made my pictures a lot better.” It looks like students really enjoy the class and the opportunities it brings for them.

Sean Wiley (10) says that he has “been interested in photography for awhile” and he likes “messing with the camera while taking trips in general.” They love the idea of being able to fit all the basics into their photos, for example nature shots, horizons, and abstract ideas. Overall, these future photographers took advantage of the field trip and it seemed to all be worth it!
