It was recently revealed during 4th hour, that Hammy the Husky was Hamilton Senior, Katelyn Anderson through a video! Since she is graduating this year, there will be auditions held for the new Hammy next school year. But, Hamilton will never forget our first Hammy the Husky, Kate!
Katelyn notes, “my mom was her mascot at her high school“, which relates to why she wanted to be the Hamilton Mascot in the first place. As she connects to her experience, she continues “it was cool working with Unified [Sports] and making people happy. You feel like your apart of something even if people don’t know who you are.” Anderson made a lot of people’s day as Hammy!
A Mascot is not just a suit, they are the symbol of unity in a school. Mascots are always fun to be around and share great energy! Finally, Kate says “the fact that I can do whatever I want. I can dance like a maniac and no one will know it’s me. You can really be yourself,” relating back to her favorite part of being Hammy the Husky!
If you are currently a sophomore or junior interested in becoming the next mascot, there will be auditions held on April 11, in the gym at 2:30.
