Varsity Wins Big on the Road
September 18, 2019
The Hamilton Football Team won big on the road this Friday against the Tolleson Wolverines with a final score of 57-14. The offense was on fire from the start as they had 43 points by the end of the first half.
Senior running back and offensive player of the week, Gabe Armenta, looked unstoppable for the offense as he went off for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Along with his dominating performance, he broke three Huskie records by having the highest rushing average per carry in a game at 39.3 yards, the longest run from scrimmage at 98 yards, and the longest touchdown run at 98 yards. Although the rest of the offense had other great moments throughout the night, Armenta was the one who truly stood out for the Huskie offense. Christopher Esparza (12) commented on the performance of Armenta as he essentially “carried the entire offense on his back” which paid off tremendously for the team.
The defense did not disappoint as they completely shut out Tolleson’s offense for three-quarters of the football game. Junior quarterback for the Wolverines, James Mcelhenny, had a difficult time passing the ball as he only completed three out of 15 passes with one interception on the night. Unlike Hamilton’s offense, the Wolverines could not get any type of running game going against the dominating defensive line of the Huskies. Senior outside linebacker and defensive player of the week, Jeremiah Trojan, had a fantastic night as he had 11 total tackles, one quarterback hurry, and one interception. Jacob Gonzales (12) was thrilled to see another strong showing of the team as they looked “dominated in all four quarters of the football game.”
Overall, the offense and defense of the Hamilton Football team had another great showing this past week which Mr. Ring believes “shows why they remain undefeated for the 2019 season.” The Huskies will be at home this Friday, September 20th, for the homecoming game against Mountain Pointe at 7:00 pm. #GoHuskies
