Cheer Nationals Trip to California

Hamilton’s Cheer team recently competed at their nationals competition in Anaheim, California. Being a member of the program means representing the school and being there to cheer on the school sports teams, as well as competing in competitions. Cheerleading is a year-long activity and they cheer on football, boys basketball, and girls basketball as well as supporting other sports. “Cheer is really hard sometimes and we’ve had a rough season with people quitting but it’s been fun to get to know the other girls and get closer with them,“ said Kaileya McGhee (11). Students in the program practice every morning and have been preparing immensely for the competition.

February 13th through February 17th, Hamilton Cheerleading had their trip to nationals in California. “The trip was really exciting and I loved being able to spend time in Disneyland and California with my team,” said Saige Stelling (10). The first day was spent practicing and preparing for the upcoming competitions. Friday was spent at the Anaheim Convention Center where both junior varsity and varsity competed. Varsity qualified for day two and ended up placing 8th in their division on Saturday, despite two falls. They also competed their Game Day routine though they didn’t place. “Game day is so much fun to compete and even though we didn’t place we did our best and had fun together!” said Kiyra Tibke (11). They ended the weekend by spending Sunday in Disneyland to celebrate their season and competitions then flew home Monday.

Overall cheer did extremely well, so be sure to congratulate your Hamilton Cheerleaders on their performance in California and if interested, sign up for tryouts for the 2020-2021 season!
