Briana’s Winter Break Reflection

Briana McCauley

Overall, I’d say my winter break was pretty good. I usually don’t sleep very well, but somehow I managed to sleep in. I would go to bed around 3 am and wake up at 2 pm, so now that we are back in school I need to readjust to my normal sleep schedule. For the most part, I just ate and watched Netflix. I watched some new shows and movies, such as “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and “Teenage Bounty Hunters” and I really liked them both.

Christmas for 2020 was definitely way more different than it usually is. For Christmas at my mom’s house, we went over to my grandparents house for a small get together. However, we all made sure to wear our masks to stay safe. I got the book “IT” by Stephan King since my parents know how much I love the movies. With my dad, we just stayed home and watched some Christmas movies, such as “A Christmas Story.” Not only was the holiday different because of COVID, but because of my cousins and older brother growing up. They are all adults now and most of the time they choose to not come to family gatherings, so holidays aren’t as magical as they were when I was younger. As for New Years, I went to my grandparents with my mom and stepdad, and we played a few board games.

As crazy as 2020 was, I’m thankful I made it through the year safe without testing positive. I’m looking forward to this year mainly because I’m hoping it will be better than last year. I don’t usually make resolutions, but when I do, they are usually small. Besides the pandemic and everything going around, quarantine was very useful for me. It gave me time to focus on myself and my mental health, and I plan on continuing to focus on me, so I’d say that’s my resolution. I’m hoping this year will be better, fingers crossed.
