Hamilton Marketing and DECA: Madera Wick Candles

Hamilton Marketing and DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) members have designed and created Madera Wick Candles to sell out to students, teachers, and community members during the 2021 school year.

Marketing/DECA is a club that gets students ready for college and career. Its focus is mainly on business and leadership development. The community participates in trainings, role play competitions, community service activities and campus events. The overall goal is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs to be successful in their businesses. Simoni Thakkar, a member of this Marketing/DECA program, was interviewed to give more insight about Madera Wick Candles and how DECA works in general. She talks about her experience in the club and her progress as a soon to be entrepreneur.

When asked about what inspired her to join Marketing/DECA, Thakkar says that she was always interested in going into the marketing sector and business side of work. She believes that this club will help her pursue her career as well as improve her marketing skills. This includes the advancement of her public speaking skills, confidence, communication, and overall strategies to make sales and engage customers. Thakkar finds the organization’s members to be very welcoming and friendly. She believes that these Madera Wick Candles, which she is encouraged to sell, are great for the fall and winter seasons coming up. Thakkar states, “They are perfect for those who are enthusiastic about the holidays. We have scents such as “Christmas Nog” and “Harvest Patch” that are ideal for these occasions.” Additionally, she says that for those who don’t like strong seasonal scents, there is also a variety of fresh, natural scents like “Pure Clarity” and “Farmhouse”. Overall, DECA/Marketing makes these candles so they are appealing to all customers based on their preferences. This money raised goes towards the organization and future fundraising projects.
