Hurricane Nicholas hits Southern Texas

Hurricane Nicholas made landfall along the southern Texas coast on Monday, Sept. 13 as a category one hurricane. Maximum winds reached 75 mph and up to half a foot of rain is expected for some areas. Most areas along the gulf coast experienced three feet of storm surge although some areas reached up to five feet of storm surge. Flooding will be a major concern as well as electricity going out. People along the tropical storm’s path are urged to prepare for flooding and power outages as hurricane Nicholas dumps heavy amounts of rain in southern Texas.
