South Carolina Braces for Extreme High Tides and Flooding
An unprecedented flooding is taking place along the coast of South Carolina. The flooding is not due to a hurricane but to a storm off the coast. A storm system just off the coast of South Carolina is pushing the tides more inward causing devastating flooding. In addition, the moon is at a new moon phase which makes the tides more extreme. The tides are influenced by the moon and when the moon is at a new moon phase or a full moon phase, it causes the tides to reach more inland. As the world warms and the arctic melts, more extreme tides with devastating flooding will occur more frequently in the future.
