Arizona High School Games Cancelled Due To COVID-19

In Arizona, schools are canceling sports games as we start off 2022 and this is not good news.

Have you ever been to any of the sporting events for your school? Do you enjoy the events and go there for peace of mind? Across our state, there have been over 1,000 sporting events cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. These sports being cancelled include basketball, wrestling and soccer. When the practices of the events happen, the coaches are telling the athletes to keep up on their hygiene and wash their hands.

Hamilton High specifically has had four basketball games and soccer games cancelled all due to increasing COVID concerns. Athletic director Brett Palmer  says, “They’ve been doing everything they’ve been doing and then come to find out, something out of their control, now they have to lose a game or miss a game.” Palmer continues, “I get disappointed because students miss out on the chance to play. They’ve all been working very hard.” The concern here is safety in addition to the athletes missing out on the enjoyment of playing something they love.
