Basha High senior uses senior service requirements to help teachers in February.

Are you a senior in high school and have no idea what to do for your senior graduation requirement? Basha senior Jaydn Ocampo is using fundraising to finish her requirement. She wants to help teachers who have to pay off their student loan debts. Ocampo’s idea is to create something similar to a scholarship and help teachers with their debt. While accepting applicants for the scholarships, Ocampo realized how many teachers are still paying off their student loan debts.

The original goal for Ocampo was to fundraise 1,000 dollars for one teacher but then she raised 500 dollars for two teachers. Ocampo was taking applications up to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 from all CUSD teachers. “I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how I can help the other 30,” Jadyn Ocampo told 12news. “I just cannot walk away from this project without doing everything I possibly can to help these people.” This shows that she really cares about this project and has put her whole heart into it.
