Being one of the many culture centered clubs at Hamilton Highschool the BSU club recently celebrated Black History Month with their very own spirit week. Getting help from STUGO to create posters , the BSU celebrated the following days with the following: Monday; Club Shirt/Team Short, Tuesdays; 90’s Style Day, Wednesday; HBCU Day, Thursday; Blackout and Friday; Black Excellence.

Jaylyn Ellis, (12) the secretary of the club, says the goal for the BSU is to spread awareness and expand the club. “Typical meet is we welcome everyone, say any announcements we have, talk and communicate in groups,” Ellis says. The club normally ends with a mini game at the end.

Last Wednesday after school the club met in N114 Coach Harris’s room holding a Kahoot contest. The game consisted of questions on Black history and events. Many attended the event.

The Vice President of the club, Ceriah Mathis (12), shares her favorite moment of the club so far has been: “Black History Month Food Truck Friday.” Mathis informed that the club meets every other Wednesday.
