UN Delivers Climate Report

March 11, 2022
The United Nations declared on Monday that human-caused global warming needs to be limited to a couple tenths of a degree to prevent irreversible damage. Earth will suffer from wildfires and droughts on a regular basis in a few decades if the climate crisis is not solved. The report declared climate change to be a severe threat to the planet’s wellbeing and suggested that world leaders adequately confront the issue. The report featured several frightening statistics. Scientists at the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated that children today will experience four times more climate extremes in the year 2100.
Today, 3.3 billion people live in areas where they are severely vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Hurricane Ida, for example, resulted from extra heat acting as fuel for the storm. Pollution and carbon emissions cause hurricanes to become even more dangerous. The report emphasized how the future planet depends on legislators, and despite the signing of the Paris Accords, the planet is still becoming hotter at an alarming rate. Immediate action needs to be taken to avoid a climate disaster.
