A Second Booster Shot is Now Available For People 50 And Older

On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the FDA approved a second booster shot of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for people 50 and older. People 12 and older who are immunocompromised can also get a second booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine. To receive the shot, it has to have been at least four months since your last one. Moderna’s vaccine can be given to people who are immunocompromised and are 18 and older.

The second booster was approved in case the United States sees another COVID-19 wave with another variant. The Biden Administration does not want to see a repeat of the problems caused by Delta and Omicron variants.

People who are over 60 or immunocompromised are especially urged to get the shot. While the vaccine is recommended, many say getting the second booster really just depends on your personal situation. Many experts recommend consulting your doctor to see what is right for you.

Places such as Walgreens and CVS are now offering the second booster.
