Partial Solar Eclipse April 30, 2022

A partial solar eclipse will sweep across the southern Pacific Ocean and parts of South America. This will be the first eclipse of 2022. Argentina and Chile will be the main two countries in South America that will get to see the sun partially eclipsed by the moon at sunset. At the maximum eclipse, 64 percent of the sun will be blocked by the moon. A solar eclipse occurs when a new moon passes in-between the sun and the earth, blocking some or all of the sun’s direct light from reaching the earth. It is important to note that watching a solar eclipse should never be observed without using proper solar filters, not sunglasses. The eclipse will last a little under four hours worldwide.
