May 4, 2022
The U S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development announced on Monday more than $5 million in grants will be allocated to 12 rural health care organizations and groups in Arizona. The funding was made available through the Emergency Rural Health Care Grants and will go toward helping rural hospitals and health care providers implement nutrition assistance programs, build or renovate facilities, purchase medical supplies and increase staffing, USDA Rural Development officials said in a press release.
The Gila River Health Care Corporation received about one million and plans to broaden access to COVID-19 testing and services. Other recipients of the funds include Ajo Center for Sustainable Agriculture, the White Mountain Communities Hospital and the Black Canyon Community Health Center. These funds will be used to open food banks and buy medical equipment.
