Meet our Sparrow: Riley S.

Prisay Abid

Riley S., an 11-year-old girl, will be adopted as a Sparrow to Hamilton High School. Riley was diagnosed with Perthes Disease, which is a rare childhood disease where blood stops flowing to the hip joint, which causes the bone to crumble.
She has had to endure many surgeries over the last two years to help hold her hip in place. If the disease continues to progress, Riley will need her first full hip replacement by the time she turns 14.

Riley can no longer run and can’t walk without a great amount of pain. She uses a wheelchair often and goes to physical therapy two days a week.

She also has to get infusions because of an autoimmune disease. With Riley becoming a Sparrow, students can raise money for her procedures and healing. Consult the poster and scan the QR code for more information on how to help Riley.
