Patrick Brown spent 29 years in prison for a rape that he did not commit. The survivor just helped free him. He spent 29 years in prison for being accused of the rape of his stepdaughter.
He is a New Orleans man that is free thanks to the help of the local district attorney office. The testimony of the victim herself also helped greatly. She has consistently indicated for the past 20 years that he is not the one who had done this.
Brown was convicted of raping his 6-year-old stepdaughter in 1994 after not pleading guilty in a trial in which the victim did not testify.
Instead, adults testified to what they believed she had said. Since 2002, the step daughter had repeatedly asked the DA’s office under the former administration to review the case and prosecute the actual perpetrator.
