NASA has made the first couple of steps towards sending astronauts back to the lunar surface. The agency launched the most powerful rocket 50 years early.

At NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla.on Wednesday at 1:48 a.m.. ET. The uncrewed fight Artemis I, a 322 foot tall spacecraft, was blasted off. The spacecraft is planned to do a 25-day mission to orbit the moon and safely return to Earth. If everything goes as planned, the spacecraft  will return to Earth faster than any human spacecraft ever has before. It will go down in the Pacific Ocean on Dec. 11, off the coast in San Diego, Calif..

In a couple of years NASA plans to send off this spacecraft with people aboard and in 2025 put the first colored person and women on the lunar surface.
