Ohio is well-known for its erratic weather patterns. The state’s snowfall has varied significantly throughout the years, which is to be expected. In the previous year, the initial snowfall occurred approximately in the middle of November, yet Cincinnati has experienced it as soon as mid-October.
Let us find out when Cincinnati might experience its inaugural snowfall for the upcoming winter season of 2024-25.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac forecasts a winter characterized by colder temperatures and significant precipitation, featuring a series of swift storms that will deliver both rain and snow, with minimal breaks in between. Significant temperature declines are anticipated, with the most frigid times projected for late November, from late January through early February, and again in late February.
According to the Farmers’ Almanac, Cincinnati in the Ohio Valley was anticipated to experience its initial snowfall around Nov. 19. However, the National Weather Service now predicts that the region will witness its first snowfall later this week. The NWS reports a possibility of snow showers early Thursday morning around 4 a.m., though “little or no snow accumulation is expected.”
Throughout the day, expect the possibility of snow showers until 1 p.m. on Thursday, transitioning to a mix of rain and snow with temperatures reaching around 38 degrees and an 80% likelihood of precipitation. The National Weather Service indicated that there could be a new snow accumulation of under half an inch.
According to earlier predictions from the Farmers’ Almanac, Cincinnati might have experienced its initial snowfall as soon as November 4.
On October 16, the National Weather Service in Wilmington noted that the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport recorded a “trace” amount of snow in the 24 hours leading up to 8 a.m.
