As the playoffs near, there is one game that could make or break a season for a team: the conference championships. There are 3 major championships including the SEC, PAC-12, and the BIG 10.

The ACC championship consists of two teams willing to give it their all, North Carolina and Clemson. The #1 ranked Clemson is looking to go undefeated while winning their respective conference championship. The Tar Heels are currently on a hot streak as they enter the toughest challenge of their season. This game matters to Clemson because if they win then they guarantee their spot in the playoffs.

Ben Nyguen (9) said about this game was, “I think Clemson will win because they are very dominant because of their amazing offense including possible Heisman candidate, Deshaun Watson. Also Clemson’s defense should be able to shut down NC’s offense.”

Another championship occurring is the PAC-12 championship with Stanford facing USC. With quarterback Kevin Hogan and running back Christian McCaffrery leading their stud offense, Stanford is looking to go all the way this year. With a nail-biter last week against Notre Dame, the Cardinals have a lot of momentum going into this game. USC also has their confidence boosting as well after winning the PAC -12 South against rival UCLA.

Marissa Caldwell (9) predicted USC will win the game commenting, “USC is going to win because of their amazing quarterback, Cody Kessler and a defense that will be prepared to take on the Stanford offense.”

One of the games with more implications is the BIG 10 championship with Michigan State facing Iowa. The winner of this game will not only take the BIG 10 championship, but also a shot at the National Championship because both teams have such a high ranking. As the Hawkeyes look to cap off their Cinderella story of being unheard of then becoming undefeated with a championship. While the Spartans are taking what they think is theirs.

Kylie Celeste (9) made a bold guess saying, “Michigan State will win because this is Iowa’s first real opponent and they will not know how to beat such a good team. While Michigan State is having an amazing season and knows how to face good teams.”
