It’s Time for Puck Drop! As the new school year begins, that means it is the start of the new hockey season for the Hamilton Huskies. This year, the Huskies will have a Division 1 and a Division 3 hockey team. There will be a seeding tournament at the end of August to determine if the two teams stay there. Many new faces have arrived, as well as the veterans that are making their return. Lead by new head coach, Tim Newlin, both teams look to capture state championships in their respective divisions. The first skate is on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 3:30pm at AZ Ice Gilbert.

Carter Newlin (11), commented on the confidence level of the teams that will join the team this year. “ I’m very confident in both our teams this year, I think that we have brought together the right group of guys to make a title winning team this year.”

A returning player from last year, Ben Darnell (10), talked about the up and coming freshmen that will be trying out. He said, “To be honest, I don’t know a lot about the freshmen this year, but I’m excited to see what the guys can do to earn a spot on the team.”

Keaton Hubbard (10), who was a member of the Hamilton D3 team last year, had this to say about the mindset of both teams based off of last year’s disappointment. “Well obviously it was difficult to be happy about last season, but it’s a new year and I’m ready to go far this year in the playoffs.”

With All eyes set on a state Championship this year, you can feel the excitement for this year. Good luck to all players attending tryouts and Go Huskies!
