The Hamilton Boys Soccer Team kicked off their 2019 season at Dobson this past Tuesday and pulled out a victory with a final score of 7-1. Junior midfielder, striker, and full back, Adnan Laurousi, began his season on a great note as he lead Hamilton with two goals and was awarded the player of the game for the Huskies. The team played terrific defense as well as senior goalkeeper, Tracey Angeli, had three saves on the night. Christopher Esparza (12) was “impressed by the Huskies first win of the year” and believes that this victory will ultimately “help the team build momentum for the rest of the season.”

The team continued its strong play the following week as they defeated the Mountain Pointe Lions by a final score of 4-1. Angeli picked up right where he left off as he once again had three saves for the Huskies. Luke Schaefer, sophomore forward and midfielder, was selected as Hamilton’s player of the game as he lead the team with two goals on the night. The Boys Soccer Team will look to get revenge against the undefeated Chaparral Firebirds this Tuesday, December 10th, at 6:00 pm after losing to them late last year.

The Girls Soccer Team certainly did not go unnoticed this past week as they began their 2019 season with a dominating 11-0 win against the Dobson Mustangs. Player of the game, Vanessa Uselton (11), helped lead the team to victory with four goals and added one assist to her terrific night. Jacob Gonzales (12) commented on the performance on the team as he was “pleased with the girls an impressive start to the 2019 season.”

The team rolled right over the Mountain Pointe the following week as they shut out the Lions by a final score of 5-0. Senior goalkeeper, Asia Hart, defended the goal with ease and had one save on the night for the Huskies.

Overall, the team was able to get back to back shutout wins against the Mustangs and Lions which makes individuals like Chris Esparaza (12) “excited to see how the rest of the season plays out.” The Girls Soccer Team will take on the Chaparral Firebirds at 6:00 pm next Tuesday, December 17th, in hopes of continuing their strong start to the 2019 season. #GoHuskies
