Hockey and Boys Basketball Winter Break Recap

For the Boys Basketball team, They competed in 5 games overall during the break, including the McClintock Holiday Shootout. Boys Hoops went 3-2 overall, with a major blowout wins against Alhambra (60-33) and Tolleson (66-31). In the holiday tournament, however, they lost a heartbreaker to Arcadia 55-54 and then were defeated by a very good Cesar Chavez team 71-62. The Huskies team was consistently lead by their senior core group of Chrsitian Valle, Omar Knight, and Jamar Brown. The Huskies also won a tightly contested matchup versus Desert Ridge 49-46 on December 19th. During that span, the Huskies averaged 58.1 points per game, while only yielding 47.2 points per game in that span. The Huskies next is against Queen Creek on December 7. 

The Hamilton Varsity Hockey Team also competed in multiple contests over the Winter Break, starting with a 4-1 win over Basha/Perry December 20th. Solid return for senior forward Carter Newlin, who captured his second hattrick of the season in that victory. Newlin commented on his return, stating that “It felt good to be back out there for the Huskies”, and He “was glad to contribute to the team.” Then the Huskies ran into some trouble over the first weekend of January, losing two of their three games to Number 1 Notre Dame Prep, then tying Horizon 1-1 on January 4th. The Huskies will partake in senior night on Saturday night against rival Desert Vista. #GoHuskies
