Kick Start to The Soccer Season

Kick Start to The Soccer Season

Briana McCauley

This past Wednesday, Jan. 19, both Hamilton boys and girls soccer had their first game to kick start their season. These hard-working Huskies went against the San Luis Sidewinders at Chandler High School, and they put up a fight! The games for both boys and girls JV and JV2 got cancelled, but varsity’s games were a go.

Girls Varsity gave the sidewinders a run for their money with a winning score of 14-0. They are proudly standing at #1 and aren’t planning on backing down any time soon.

Boys Varsity sadly lost, however, it was a tight game with an ending score of 2-1. Their next games were supposed to be on Jan. 21 against the Trevor G. Browne Bruins at Trevor G. Browne High School, but the games were cancelled. This, however, can be used as an advantage. This gives the teams a whole extra week for more practice and training up until Jan. 26, which is when the huskies will face the Basha Bears at Basha High School. According to the AIA’s guidelines to keep athletes and others safe, no visitors are allowed to watch the games except for the coaches, athletes, and parents of the athletes of the home team. Good luck, and go Huskies!
