Varsity Girls Soccer Is On a Roll, Boys Fall

Briana McCauley

The weekend of Feb. 13, 2021 was quite an eventful weekend.. Not only was it Valentine’s Day and President’s Day, but it also had many soccer tournaments. Both boys and girls Varsity and JV went up against the Desert Vista Thunder on Feb 12. Our lady Huskies played at 6 pm and knocked the wind out of them with a 2-0 win. JV played at 4 pm and tied 2-2, but watch out because these athletes are determined to be the best! The Girls JV B team just had a game on Feb. 16, a whole eight days since their last. Sadly, the Highland Hawks clawed their way to victory, resulting in a 2-1 loss. However, these girls, including varsity and JV, are working hard and preparing for their game on Feb. 19 against the Perry Pumas at home territory. Outstanding job Huskies!

Next up are the boys, and it’s clear that they aren’t going down without a fight. Boys Varsity played at 4 pm, and sadly got struck by their lightning and lost 4-0. JV played at 4 pm and fought hard, resulting in a tie of 1-1. The  JV B team played against the Colts from Casteel on Feb. 15, but sadly lost 1-0. They originally were gonna play against the Boulder Creek Jaguars on Feb. 23, but it got cancelled. All of these teams are going to fight their hardest for their next game, so keep an eye out!

Coming up, both girls and boys varsity play against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at home. The girls play at 5:30 pm and the boys play at 3:30 pm on Feb. 22. Good luck, and go Huskies!
