While the season has ended for JV, varsity softball and baseball continues to dominate. After softball’s game against Mountain Ridge on May 5 they went up against Corona del Sol on May 8 at home. Our lady Huskies played a hard game and earned another win with a final score of 4-0. Following that game, they went on to the AIA Softball State semi-finals where they went up against Red Mountain on May 11, at home, which they unfortunately lost with a final score of 7-0. They had a strong season this year and will most definitely come back better than ever next season. Great season Huskies!
Next up: baseball. After their amazing game against Mountain Ridge on May 5 they were faced against Mountain Pointe on May 8 at home where the game commenced at 11am. The Huskies found themselves walking off the field victorious with a final score of 7-3. The Huskies fired up the offense in the first inning. Josh Tiedemann drove in one when Tiedemann doubled. Hamilton scored three runs in the third inning. Brock Selvidge and Prince DeBoskie each had RBIs in the frame. Selvidge was credited for the win for the Huskies. Selvidge lasted five and a third innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out 12. Kole Klecker threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Klecker recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Huskies. Hamilton smacked one home run that day. Selvidge went yard in the third inning followed by the Huskies having eight hits in the game. Tiedemann and Selvidge each managed multiple hits for Hamilton. Tiedemann went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Huskies in hits. Because of their win they moved onto the AIA Baseball State semi-finals where they faced off against the Basha Bears.
During their game against the Bears, the Huskies had all cylinders firing on offense on May 11, winning big over Basha with a score of 9-3. In the first inning, Basha got their offense started when Tanner Smith homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Logan Saloman was the winning pitcher for Hamilton, the ace went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out four. Kole Klecker threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. The Huskies smacked three home runs that day. Prince DeBoskie went deep in the sixth inning while Ryan Kucherak had a long ball in the fifth inning. Gavin Turley went for the long ball in the third inning. Hamilton racked up ten hits on the day and Brock Selvidge and Kucherak all managed multiple hits for Hamilton. Kucherak and Selvidge all had three hits to lead,finishing the game with an amazing score of 9-3. Because of this amazing win the Huskies will be going up against the Alhambra Lions from Phoenix on May 15 which will decide if they play at the Diablo Stadium competing for the State title.
