Husky Girls Volleyball Looking To Repeat

Brennan Miranda

The Varsity volleyball team is going to be playing their first game of the season on 6 p.m.  Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Sandra Day O’Connor high school. The Varsity Volleyball team is looking to repeat last year with being State Champions. Last year’s Varsity volleyball beat Perry Highschool going 3-1, winning State Champions. Returning to the roster this year is Mikaela Esparza, Jordan Middleton, Karlly Dillard, Neomi Beach, Addison Harris, Micah Gryniewicz, Lauren Mullings, Tatum Thomas, Melia Barlow, Hali Hooks, Ella Butler and Demya Tate. Logan Blutreich is going to be a newcomer to the Varsity team this year.

Last year the Varsity team went 17-2 with a 0.90 win percentage. The average stats of last year’s team and this year’s team are higher than the average national team. Last year Hamilton’s Varsity Volleyball team was ranked number three for Arizona rankings, 235 in National rankings and number two in Arizona Conference 6A.

Looking at the stats from last year the Varsity Volleyball team has a high percent chance to beat Sandra Day O’Connor. Sandra Day O’Connor went 13-4 and has a 0.77 win percentage. Sandra Day O’Connor’s stats are also lower than Hamilton’s. However Sandra Day O’Connor went 9-1 in league where Hamilton went 7-2. Then again Sandra Day O’Connor and Hamilton are not in the same League. Hamilton is in the Premier league where Sandra Day O’Connor is in the Desert Valley league. Sandra Day O’Connor also had six team members graduate last year so they have been replaced with new people, where Hamilton only had two team members graduate last year. Hamilton also has more players returning to the team compared to Sandra Day O’Connor.
