Hamilton has been working hard to prepare for their first game of the season. This game will take place on Friday Sept. 3, 2021 at 7 p.m. The Huskies will battle Desert Ridge. This showdown will be held at Hamilton High. Looking back to last year, the Jaguars had a record of 1-5. While Hamilton’s last year record was 6-1, they are the favorite to win.

When asked about the multitude of ways they prepared for the season, varsity quarterback Nicco Marchiol said “We prepared for the season by working everyday since January on perfecting our craft.” Marchiol said, “It’s not about doing a bunch of different drills at practice for us, it’s about doing the same thing over and over to perfection. Our time we spent in the weight room also prepared us for the season.” With this being said, Hamilton seems to be well prepared for their first game. Hamilton is not only prepared in the way of consistency physically, but also mentally. Marchiol stated, “The final play last season replays in our minds every single day at practice. I know my guys are ready and we are hungrier than ever. Final thing to do is go get that ring. That’s all we care about.” Huskies have a chip on their shoulder going into this season, and their focus levels are through the roof.

Going into Friday, this Huskies varsity team will be led by Marchiol. He is a team player with a well rounded skill set. “I think my strongest skill is the ability to keep my eyes downfield and extend plays.” He is listed as a pro style, who can extend plays with his legs outside the pocket and make people miss. Marchiol also has many goals he wants to achieve. Marchiol stated “My goals for this upcoming season are to truly enjoy my senior year as it is the last time I will be playing with these guys, as well as  my final year of high school football before I go to West Virginia. I want to also be a leader for my guys this year and never let them down. I need to always be an example and a role model for the people around me.”The team has big shoes to fill this year because of their outstanding record last year. However, when the team steps onto the field there is one goal in mind, to get a ring! Hamilton was able to win their first game in a landslide. The final score was 56-7. The player of the game was Christian Anaya. Anaya was able to snag many receptions and ended up with 3 touchdowns. Other notable players include Nicco Marchiol who was throwing dimes all game, Michael Masunas who had a touchdown and hurdled a whole person, Nick Switzer and Logan Krei. Krei and Switzer split carries the entire time, both of them gaining many yards and  scoring. Hamilton dominated this game the whole time. You would be able to tell this on the scoreboard and at the game.
