Girls Basketball And Soccer Start off The Winter Sports Season

Gwyn Bressler

The teams have been made and the Varsity girls basketball and soccer teams practices have begun.

The first basketball game will be a tournament against the Poston Butte Broncos taking place Nov. 22. at 3:30 p.m. this showdown will take place at Williams Field High School. The Broncos had a 13-6 record last year and lost to the Combus Coyotes, Mesquite Wildcats, Seton Catholic Sentinels, Peoria Panthers and Sahuaro Cougars. Based on last year’s Varsity stats, the team had a record of 19-2 and only lost to the Perry Pumas and the Valley Vista Monsoon. Even with these losses, they were short only eight points during these games. Therefore, it’s likely this game will end in a win for the Huskies. Hamilton will be playing Perry twice this season on Jan. 12 and Feb. 3. The Huskies will also be playing Valley Vista on Dec. 10.

The first girls soccer game won’t occur until later this season. Hamilton will be playing on Friday Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. against the Desert Vista Thunder at the home of the Thunder. Last season, Desert Vista had a record of 6-4-2 and lost to Hamilton with a score of 2-0. The Huskies had a record of 8-5, so it’s hard to predict a win for Hamilton. Hopefully, they can start off their winter season with a victory against this team.

Sports such as boys basketball, boys soccer, spirtline, and wrestling will also take place this winter season.
