The Girls Basketball and Soccer Teams play Last Game of the Season

Despite their amazing efforts, the Girls Varsity Basketball Team loses their final game of the season on Feb. 8 against the Xavier College Prep Gators. The Huskies’ win streak of four, gave them the confidence they needed to win, but at the end of the day the Gators only narrowly slipped past them. The final score was a heartbreaking 49-46 loss.  This season, the team leaders were without a doubt Savanna Creal, Breanna Sommers and Siajonet Burley. Creal leads the team with an average of 12.2 points per game.. Sommers was able to pull down more rebounds this season compared to her peers and scored the ball well, averaging 5.3 per game. Finally, Burley who leads the team in assists and steals averaging 2.7 assists and 2.8 steals each game. Hopefully, the two sophomores and one junior will be able to lead the team  in the following year and propel them even further.

It was a great day for the Girls Varsity Soccer Team who won their last game on Feb. 7. These Huskies drilled two in the net, while the Xavier College Prep Gators could only keep up with one. Shyla Cholowsky and Chelsea Moomaw contributed to these two points and helped make these Hamilton girls look proud on their home field. Abbie Fox and Taylor Hannah spent 40 minutes each between the goal posts, only letting one slip by.

With the winter sports season coming to a close, there are no more upcoming girls varsity basketball or soccer games to go to. However, when one door closes, another opens and the spring sports season is coming up fast. Baseball, softball and track tryouts are happening and teams are being put together for the last series of sports this year.
