Beginning of Playoffs for the Hamilton Huskies Boys Varsity Soccer Team

The Regional Champions known as the Hamilton Huskies have started their playoff run that will hopefully end in a victory. Hamilton is tasked with beating San Luis in the second round. The first round turned out to be a win for Hamilton.

Hamilton is the sixth seeded team in the state playoffs. As the sixth seed, they played number 11 seeded team Mesa. This game ended two to one in favor of the Huskies. Hamilton did not see Mesa in the regular season, but they handled them well in the playoffs. In this game, Erick Romero and Vincent Acosta had a goal apiece. Mesa was a good team throughout the season with a strong record of 9-3. This game was evenly matched and the Huskies thankfully pulled out a win.

In round two, Hamilton was faced with a tough obstacle. This obstacle was needing an upset. The San Luis Sidewinders were the number three seeded team in the playoffs. The Huskies played this team once in a tournament and won four to one. They were hoping to build off that in the playoffs and they did. The Huskies drove three hours to get to the field and must have been getting extremely focused because when they got there they handled business. Hamilton beat San Luis two to zero. These two goals were scored by Luke Schaefer. Schaefer was assisted on these from Xavier Lawmaster and Acosta. Hamilton won this and moved on to the semi-finals.

Now in the semifinals Hamilton will have to pull off another upset. This upset will be even more difficult because Desert Vista is the second best team in the state according to the bracket seeding. The Thunder was one of two teams to give Hamilton a loss in the regular season. Hamilton has been in a rhythm lately so they are by no means counted out. The Thunder did not lose a single game in the regular season, so Hamilton does not have their work cut out for them.

If Hamilton wins on Feb. 19, then they punch a ticket to the state championship where they will face the winner of number one seeded Tucson and number 13 seeded Chandler High School.
