Hamilton Varsity Girls Basketball loses to The Desert Vista Thunder; Girls Softball Cancels Game

The Hamilton Girls Varsity Basketball team made it to the 6A playoffs and defeated their first opponent, Tucson Badgers, 58-46.. On Feb. 22, they moved on to their next opponent, the Desert Vista Thunder who had a record of  24-4. The Huskies were an underdog from the start, notching five less wins compared to the Desert Vista Thunder. Therefore, it wasn’t that much of a surprise when Desert Vista throttled the Huskies when the final whistle blew, Desert Vista won in a the final score was 60-43. These girls were hanging by a thread in these playoffs, and the last string came off. This officially marks the end of their season with no more games left to play. Desert Vista goes on to the next round to play the Valley Vista Monsoon on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. This team has a record of 23-5, which is similar to the Thunder. It is likely this will be a close game.

Meanwhile, the Hamilton Varsity Girls Softball team had to cancel their game against Mountain Ridge High School due to the rain. Last year, the Mountain Lions were defeated by a score of seven to zero on May 5 by the Huskies. The Hamilton Varsity Softball team had a record of 16-6 last year. Half of the team’s same players are here this year too, and a total of nine new varsity players are here as well. Hopefully, they can take these new and old players and make a team worth talking about. Their next game against the Chandler Wolves will be on Feb. 28 at 3:45 p.m. at Hamilton High School.
