Hamilton Girls Volleyball Holds Their Ground Entering Week Three
September 28, 2022
Playing another round of away games, the Hamilton Girls Volleyball team concluded their third week of the season with another sweep. Staying strong and holding their ground as they make their way through the season, the girls have currently played a total of 21 games, still holding on to only two losses.
Hamilton High School played two away games during the week, Monday, Sept. 12 against Shadow Ridge High School and Wednesday, Sept. 14 against Highland High School.
In the Monday game against Shadow Ridge, Hamilton was able to best the opposing team in three short sets. The final score for each set was 25-11, 25-13 and 25-6 to conclude the game with an overall score of 3-0. This 3-0 win followed them all the way to Highland, where they concluded the evening with the same score. The Highland game ended in three sets, though these sets were a little closer than their previous game at Shadow Ridge. Even so, the Huskies Varsity team secured the game with final scores of 25-21, 29-27 and 25-22. However, not only did Varsity sweep these matches, both the Freshman and Junior Varsity team had successful games during the week as well. The games were a sweep on all three levels, the JV and Freshman team winning in only two sets on both days.
Unfortunately though, the Highland game was not without a loss. Senior, Lauren Mullings, who plays the position of Libero on the Varsity team dove for a ball during the game and injured her shoulder. It is unclear the severity of the injury or the exact time frame of her absence from the team, but it is clear that she was a valuable player and teammate. Even with her eventual injury, Mulllings still played a wonderful game against the Highland team, totalling at 25 digs and 13 serve receptions. Mullings was recognized as a great leader on the court and we hope her recovery will be a speedy one!
These games have the Hamilton High School Girls Volleyball team at 19-2, ranking them second in the Arizona Conference 6A, just below Corona del Sol. The Hamilton Huskies team will go on to play three upcoming games. Monday, Sept. 19 away against Desert Vista, Tuesday, Sept. 20 back home against Mesa High School and Wednesday, Sept. 21 away against Chandler High School. While Hamilton has played a successful game against the Mesa team in a previous tournament, they will be playing against Desert Vista High School and Chandler for the first time this season. Desert Vista currently stands at 14-5, ranking ninth in the Arizona Conference 6A and Chandler High School ranks 18th in Arizona Conference 6A at 9-8. This is looking to be an exciting week of three back to back games that will hopefully turn out in Hamilton’s favor and keep the Lady Huskies on their successful path!
