Girls Volleyball Celebrate Senior Night

November 2, 2022
Hamilton High School is full of so many students with so many different interests! Some chose the arts, others chose baseball or clubs and some chose the volleyball team. The Hamilton Girls Volleyball team is full of many hardworking girls who have dedicated their years at Hamilton playing, improving, growing and learning as both players and people. On Thursday, Oct. 27, the senior girls who are in their last season on the Hamilton Volleyball Team will be honored before the game against the Xavier Volleyball team for their Senior Night.
The varsity team is a place for many senior players who have played through a thus far challenging and successful season. These talented players include seniors Ally Adair, Neomi Beach, Lauren Mullings, Melia Barlow and Moorea Neimer, all led by longtime head coach, Coach Vanis, assisted by Coach Higgins.
The previous week the volleyball team played two games, first against Perry High School and then Basha High School the next day. Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 19, the team played the Perry girls. Unfortunately it was a loss for the Huskies, losing 3-0 in rather close sets of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20. The team was close, but not enough to secure a win against the Perry team, ranked fifth in the Arizona Conference 6A. Following this game however was a win for the Lady Huskies during the Basha game. Playing Basha High School, a team ranked 16th in the 6A Conference on Thursday, Oct. 20, the Huskies were able to gain their second win against the team with a score of 3-0 in the Huskies favor. The three sets had final scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19.
Hamilton still remains in second place within the Arizona Conference 6A, Corona del Sol holding tight to their spot in first. At this point in the season, the varsity girls have won 30 games with only seven losses, putting them in a pretty good place against some of the other teams. However, the upcoming game against Xavier High School, a team ranked eighth, could be an interesting one! After a loss to them over the fall break, there has to be a passion to come back and take back a win, especially on such a monumental night for many of the players.
