Boys Basketball Final Week Before Playoffs

Alina Pierzga

The boys basketball team played their final week of games over the past week, closing out the season, unfortunately not able to make it into the playoffs this year. The team played three final games against Millennium High School, Basha High School and Perry High School. These were all difficult games for the team, playing some higher ranked teams. Millennium, who competes in the 5A division is ranked fifth and the other teams, both within the 6A division, has Basha ranked third and Perry ranked at first.

The three games resulted in three final losses for the Hamilton team. The first game was home against the Millennium team on Tuesday, Jan. 31, finishing with a final score of 70-44. Following this was the Basha game on Thursday, Feb. 2, with a final score of 57-30, with Hamilton’s highest scoring average in the second quarter at 13.0. Bashas highest was also within the second quarter at 19.5. Following this was the last game against Perry on Friday, Feb. 3, playing a home game to close out the season. The game ended with a score of 59-37 in Perrys’ favor. However, for such a high ranking team, the Huskies were able to finish with one of their stronger games. Hamilton’s scoring average for this game was once again strongest in the second quarter, at 13.0. However, Perry was able to get ahead with their strong start right in the first quarter, with a scoring average of 24. 2.

Hamilton’s boys basketball will end their journey this season here, playing a total of 24 games throughout the season and remaining persistent throughout all of them. The season closed with the team ranked 25th in the 6A conference. And as the other teams go on, there is a lot of speculation of who will pull through playoffs and take this year’s win.
