A Strong Start for Girls Flag Football
April 2, 2023
Girls Flag Football is returning for its second season at Hamilton High School. After an incredible previous season, going completely undefeated, the girls prove once again this season that they are a force to be reckoned with. The Huskies have played two games so far this season, pulling two wins for the team. Both away games, the girls played their first game on Tuesday, March 7 at Mountain Pointe and Thursday, March 9 at Xavier.
In their first game against the Mountain Pointe team, the girls finished with a score of 15-6 in Hamilton’s favor. Hamilton began with a strong start, but an even stronger game was what followed.
Xavier, in their first official year of flag football, was a highly anticipated one for the start of the season. However, this game was no challenge for Hamilton, finishing with a score of 43-0. The game was a huge win for the Hamilton team and was even voted Girls Flag Game of the Week through the Arizona Cardinals. This game was a big one for a few other reasons as well. The quarterback, CC Maccagnano, threw four touchdowns, also running for one. Along with this, backup quarterback, Priscilla Notah threw her first touchdown of her career. In this wildly successful game, Samaya Taylor was named MVP after catching around four touchdowns. The game was definitely one to remember and set a tone for the season to come.
The team will go on to play their next week of games after the spring break, this including their first official home game. The Lady Huskies are back Tuesday, March 28 away against Desert Edge High School and will return to play at Hamilton on Thursday, March 30, against the ACP team.
