Water Crisis in Jackson

The latest rain storm caused more than 150,000 people in Jackson, Miss. to not have access to safe drinking water. 

The city is doing the best they can to give bottled water to tens of thousands of people. This crisis happened last week and on Monday, Jackson’s Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba issued an emergency order.

Days of rain caused the Pearl River to swell and then crest around 35 feet. high. Reeves says that Jackson’s water system will begin to fail in the next several months or weeks. The Environmental Protection Agency  issued a warning that the water system is an imminent and substantial endangerment.
