After two years of La Nina, the South Pacific may be facing a potential third appearance of La Nina in a row.

More rainfall can accrue to an already-saturated eastern Australia. A continuation of intense hurricane seasons along the east coast of the United States, and drought conditions in the country’s southwestern states. La Nina can linger for multiple years.

La Niña was here in 2020 and in 2021 and as of right now, there is a 52 percent chance of a three-peat, according to the National Climate Prediction Center. In 1998 to 2001, La Niña had a last triple- dip, that was more than two decades ago.
