18-Year-Old Newark Resident and Two Juveniles Charged in Deadly Shooting of NJ Man who was Sitting in his Car

HPP– Three individuals have been accused in connection with the fatal shooting of a man sitting in a car in New Jersey.

Officials have stated that an 18-year-old and two younger teens have been taken into custody on charges that they were responsible for the death of a man who was sitting in his vehicle in Newark on Sunday night.

According to a statement released by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday, Zaire Kelly, who resides in Newark, along with two juveniles, have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, and unlawful possession of weapons.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Zaire Kelly, Newark resident.
  • Juvenile 1
  • Juvenile 2

At approximately nine o’clock in the evening, Wed Thalerand, who was 18 years old and from Elizabeth, was shot and killed when he was riding in a vehicle that was parked in the Weequahic sector near the intersection of Mapes Terrace and Huntington Terrace. He passed away at a local hospital as a result of his injuries.

It was not immediately possible to obtain information regarding Kelly’s own attorney.

Because they are minors, the other suspects were not identified.
